Owner Operators are paid on a mileage or percentage contract depending on the operation and what the driver prefers. The mileage contract pays up to $1.15 per loaded mile, percentage contracts run at 62% for chemicals and up to 70% for some specialized products. Both contracts are given 100% of the fuel surcharge, as well as accessorial pay. |
Company drivers are paid on mileage up to 40 cents per mile loaded and 37.5 cents per mile for dedicated work. You are also paid for loading, unloading, detention time and other parts as well. In addition, there's a quarterly bonus starting at 3% of your gross pay and going up to 5% after two years. You can expect to average in the mid forties annually to start and just keep doing better from there. There are a number of drivers making in the mid sixties every year. |
